Broadsides
Updated January 2006

Among the earliest products of the printing press was the broadside, a sheet of paper printed with text. From the sixteenth century until the end of the nineteenth century, songs and poems wer distributed in this format. Broadsides also were the primary source of news for the common people.
Since Black Oak Books opened in 1983, we have published locally designed broadsides. We have featured excerpts from Maxine Hong Kingston's Tripmaster Monkey and Alan Lightman's Einstein's Dreams. We have also published poems by Robert Hass and Wendell Berry.
Unless othewise noted, broadsides are $7.50 plus shipping and handling (California residents pay 8.25% sales tax).
